DIFFERENT PARTS OF MEDICARE

While Medicare is available to individuals who are 65 and older, those younger still have options to take advantage of. Below is a simple breakdown of the different parts of Medicare. Call us to go more in detail about tailored coverages.

PART A—HOSPITAL INSURANCE

Part A Medicare plans cover inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care and limited home health care.

PART B—MEDICAL INSURANCE

Part B Medicare plans cover specific doctor services, outpatient care, medical supplies and preventative care.

PART C—MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PLANS

Medicare Advantage Plans are offered by private insurance companies to provide both Part A & B benefits into a single plan and, most of the time, prescription drug coverage. These plans typically include Health Maintenance Organizations, Preferred Provider Organizations, Private Fee-for-Service Plans, Special Needs Plans, and Medicare Medical Savings Account Plans.

PART D—PRESCRIPTION DRUG COVERAGE

Part D Prescription Drug coverage is often added on to existing Medicare coverage or plans. While offered by other insurance companies approved by Medicare, Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C) could offer cover that follows Medicare Prescription Drug Plans’ rules rather than the private company’s.
